Congregational Care

Prayer Shawl Ministry:  join your fellow church members knit and crochet prayer shawls which are presented to members and friends dealing with illness, death or other crisis situations.  This ministry also knits baby blankets to present to members and friends to celebrate births.

Food Ministry:  Church members prepare and deliver food such as casseroles, breads, and soups to church families who have a need (death, illness, etc.).  Members can also prepare frozen dishes for the Food Ministry freezer.

Covenant Care Ministry:  Church members who feel led by the Holy Spirit respond to a semi-annual “Calling Forth” and commit to connect with two to five church families on a monthly basis.  An ‘equipping’ orientation is required.

Lay Hospital Visit Ministry:  Church members offer a supportive, cheerful presence on a regular visiting schedule to members and their families who are hospitalized, home bound or in nursing homes.

Church Prayer Ministry

The prayer ministry at Main Street UMC is dedicated to surrounding our brothers and sisters in Christ with petitions of prayer as they face many earthly trials. We support them daily with our prayers, sending letters, cards or text messages of hope. When requested, we offer prayer services of healing with the anointing of oil as instructed in James 5:14-16.
The prayer team is currently composed of 39 members who pray from home for those whose name come from the pew sheets, call in’s or web requests. There are nine members of the Chapel Prayer Team who meet every Tuesday at 1:00 pm. The Chapel Prayer Team members are covenanted and also pray for confidential requests as well as the ones from the pew sheets an call in’s. On Sundays they meet at 10:40 to lift up the church service and all the ministries.
Should you feel a tug on your heart to be a part of this special ministry, please call the church for more information or simply come to the beautiful prayer chapel on Tuesday at 1:00 pm. You will be warmly welcomed.
